Meta expands scam-specific warnings and AI review controls
Technical Analysis UpdateWhatsApp now warns users when behavioral signals suggest a device-linking request may be fraudulent, including attempts to harvest a linking code or trigger a malicious QR scan. Facebook is testing suspicious friend-request warnings based on signals such as few mutual connections or a profile location that does not match the user's region, and Messenger is expanding anti-scam detection to more countries with an AI review option for chats that resemble fake job offers. Meta also said it has rolled out AI systems that analyze text, images, and contextual signals to identify celebrity impersonation, brand spoofing, and deceptive links.
